Inauguration of Ahnaf Memorial
*In Memory of Ahnaf: A Student Hero and Voice for Change*
The tragic loss of Shaheed Shafiq Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf, an 11th-grade student from BAF Shaheen College Dhaka, has left a powerful impact. Ahnaf died while participating in Bangladesh’s student-led anti-discrimination movement, highlighting the courage of a generation fighting for justice and equality.
Ahnaf was not only a dedicated student but also deeply committed to social justice, remembered by friends and teachers as a kind, driven young man who aimed to make a difference. The Quota Reform Movement, advocating fair access to government jobs, resonated deeply with him. His involvement went beyond personal goals, focusing on equality for future generations, inspiring others to join the cause.
BAF Shaheen College Dhaka has honored Ahnaf with a memorial, unveiled on September 29, 2024, with the Chief of Air Staff and other dignitaries in attendance. The monument bears his name and serves as a symbol of his and others’ sacrifices for a fairer society.
Ahnaf’s legacy lives on, inspiring students and the community to continue the fight for reform and equality. His younger brother, now admitted to the college with free education support, stands as part of the tribute to his sacrifice and the values he championed.
